This is the first publicly available, web-accessible water withdrawal and use database for Rhode Island. It is designed to visualize and download statewide water withdrawal and use information. The first version of the database stores public water system (PWS) withdrawal data. Future versions of the database are planned to include all aspects of water-usage to create a comprehensive database of water-use information. This database incorporates estimated or reported withdrawal data for public water systems (PWS). This includes reported monthly surface water and groundwater withdrawals from the 18 major suppliers (suppliers that withdraw more than 50 million gallons (MG)/year) and provide annual reports to the Rhode Island Water Resources Board (RIWRB)).

For 434 small non-reporting PWS, the study team estimated withdrawals and collected available metered data from 72 small PWS. [Note: Domestic and non-potable (irrigation, thermoelectric, etc.) withdrawals are not included in the database, and are planned for future versions.]
