RI WUNDR
Rhode Island Water Use Needs, Data and Reporting
A database developed to further the mission of the RI Water Resources Board (RIWRB) - to assure that Rhode Island has enough fresh, clean water, now and in the future
Accomplishments

  • This project represents an important first step to implement the Water Use Data and Research Program (WUDR) funded work plan titled “A Partnership to Develop a Decision Support System for Water Use and Availability” (June 28, 2016).
  • The 2020 Rhode Island WUDR project had four objectives:
    • Create a list of all PWS systems and owners, verified geographic information, and assigned Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) 8, 10, and 12 basins, for all wells/intakes.
    • Compile historical monthly withdrawals for 18 PWS systems that report withdrawals by specific wells/intakes from July 2014 to June 2021 data.
    • Collect metered data and estimated withdrawals for the non-reporting PWS systems (see final technical report for explanation of methodology to estimate withdrawals for small PWS)
    • Design a SQL relational database and populate with all PWS data including geographic information for all wells/intakes, HUC basins, and reported monthly metered and estimated withdrawal data.
  • For more information about the project please see our Final Technical Report
